One month before Polk County's holiday parades, NuVuX students at New Beginnings High School (NBHS) in central Florida were invited to propose design concepts for the local city holiday parades. The students started visualizing their designs for the NBHS holiday float through sketching and model making. Students worked in groups to create designs such as, "Reindeer Rave" and "Snowman Surprise". After a student vote, the design "Polar Express" was chosen and all groups pitched in to further the design. They also worked collaboratively for the final build - a twelve foot tall locomotive which included motorized spinning wheels and a billowing smoke stack! The float was displayed in the Lakeland, Fort Meade, and Winter Haven Parades.
