Innovation programs and consulting services for K-12 organizations.
NuVuX consists of multiple program components that are implemented collectively for greater impact across schools and organizations.
NuVu works with partner schools and organizations to develop a comprehensive plan for implementing design and innovation programs. Through a series of workshops facilitated by NuVu staff members, we work to establish a common path forward. Visioning Workshops are customized and designed to help our partners create an inspired program implementation plan.
Comprehensive, inspired, and feasible planning for innovation programs.
NuVu’s studio curriculum engages students with real-world topics using a creative, iterative design process. Students develop projects that impact the lives of others in their community while building design skills such as creative problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration, as well as subject skills such as robotics, digital fabrication, and rapid prototyping.
Students use hands-on problem solving to address complex, multidisciplinary challenges.
NuVuX Fellows lead studio-based programs on a full-time basis, and can work across a range of ages within schools, often transitioning between middle and high school students. Fellows can either teach alone or in partnership with other teachers in the school. In many schools, Fellows are also responsible for the management of makerspace equipment.

Through training partner school faculty and staff in learning methods used in a design studio setting, the benefits of the studio model have a greater impact. Designed with each partner, Professional Development training can be held virtually, on-site at the partner school, and at NuVu as part of our week-long summer workshop: “Innovation Camp for Educators.”

NuVuX Program Designers work with our NuVuX Fellows and partner school staff to provide ongoing support for programs and studios. The Program Designers lead and oversee Professional Development and Studio Curriculum implementation. Virtual support for student projects can also be provided by NuVu faculty and outside experts.

Nufolio is a visual learning platform that brings student work to the forefront, where ideas, prototypes, feedback, and presentations can all exist in a single location. Nufolio allows students and teachers to collaborate inside and outside the studio through a shared workspace, supporting iterative design and a culture of innovation.
NuVu’s digital collaboration platform connects students to unlock their creative potential.
The Virtual Exchange Program, facilitated by the NuVuX Team through aligned studio programming at partner schools, allows students to work on projects together joint studio experiences supported by NuVu’s online platform, NuFolio. Students connect to work on ideas, give each other feedback, and participate in collaborative studio projects.
Collaborative studios connecting students across different cultures, countries, and languages.
NuVu provides a materials and equipment list as part of every NuVuX offering. Depending on the offering, this ranges from studio-specific materials lists to equipment lists for a full makerspace build-out. We are also able to provide architectural consulting and design services for the development of studio spaces, which may be considered an additional service.
NuVu’s equipment, materials, and space expertise maximize the impact of each studio program.
NuVuX offers four primary models for institutions seeking to create or enhance studio-based programming. Our models range from rapidly deployable, pre-built studios, to comprehensive innovation programs with robust support and long-term visioning. Using these existing frameworks as a foundation, we work with each partner to create a custom plan, maximizing value and creating long-term, sustainable impact.
The X1 model is designed for schools seeking to run studio-based programming with minimal support from NuVu. X1 provides access to select NuVu studios, hosted on Nufolio. Studios contain the studio prompt, assignments, all accompanying resources and tutorials, an equipment and supplies list, and necessary support materials. Instructors receive two hours of professional development training prior to the start of the studio and two hours of remote support during the studio course.
In this offering, studio courses are led synchronously by NuVu Coaches in a virtual environment. Facilitated entirely online, these courses are a good choice for schools interested in piloting NuVu curriculum or for schools limited by teacher support who want to capitalize on NuVu’s studio expertise more directly. These Studios require a material kit for each student, which is provided by the school, or under special circumstances can be provided by NuVu.
The Curricular Support and Consultation Model provides schools and organizations with a combination of studio curriculum, remote support, and professional training to help develop a robust, onsite, studio-based program for students. This model is appropriate for institutions with an existing STEAM or innovation program infrastructure who are seeking new teaching methods and content, along with dedicated, ongoing support from the NuVu Team.
NuVuX Fellow Models are the most comprehensive mode of partnership and are appropriate for institutions seeking to create or enhance studio-based programming within their organization long-term. In these models, a full time NuVuX Fellow is dedicated to the project (either on-site or remotely), and a NuVuX Program Designer (project manager) oversees the implementation of the program. The complete suite of NuVuX program components are implemented for lasting, meaningful impact.
Every educational institution is different. We work closely with each partner to understand their unique context to create a custom implementation strategy that aligns with their vision.
Together with our partners, we create sustainable, lasting impact through a phased implementation approach. Working collaboratively to identify a program’s long term goals and setting milestones for achievement along the way is key to establishing meaningful change. Most programs evolve over time, often expanding or changing their offerings over the course of several years.
Through NuVu’s studios, students explore their own curiosity, creativity, and capacity for innovation by engaging in meaningful and relevant real world challenges. Students become confident critical thinkers who have the skills, character, knowledge and design process to impact the world. By thinking broadly about the world around them, they learn to address problems at all scales, imagine new ideas, and build authentic solutions.
Failing at a task should not be seen as only a negative but as part of a process to succeed. NuVu encourages me to learn from my mistakes and keep trying, which is closer to the real life situations I expect to encounter after school.

With each NuVuX offering, program components are combined to maximize value across an entire organization’s learning community, impacting students, teachers, staff, leadership, and beyond. Whether we’re working with 7th graders or upper level administrators, we are always working towards the same goal: expanding access and understanding of transformative, studio-based learning.
Schools and organizations working with NuVuX as X3 or X4 partners become part of the NuVuX Partner Network. Through the NuVuX Partner Network, we enhance student and school experiences through global connections, shared studio curriculum, expert knowledge, and pedagogical resources. From student exchange programs to network-wide gatherings and summits, NuVuX provides ways for schools to build relationships with a diverse array of other organizations pursuing similar goals around the world.
