Kate James, Head of Product Experience, and I (Dina Chehab, Product Experience Manager), ran a two-and-a-half-day professional development workshop at Colegio Montserrat in Barcelona, engaging over 50 administrators and educators in exploring strategies for integrating innovative teaching methodologies and exploring new technical skills.
Set against the stunning backdrop of a sunny hill overlooking Barcelona, Colegio Montserrat invited NuVuX to run an exciting two-and-a-half-day PD workshop at their K-12 campus in Barcelona, part of the Nazaret Foundation's school network. With a shared vision to advance teaching and learning within their school, the 50+ administrators and educators in attendance embraced the concepts and practice of innovation. Even with translation, a common language of learning united everyone in collaboration and idea exchange!
Throughout the PD, Participants immersed themselves in a variety of topics, including “2D/3D visualization” using Rhino and Tinkercad, “Digital Fabrication” through laser-cutting and 3D printing, advanced hand prototyping, “Electronics”, and “AR/VR”. In parallel, they explored design pedagogy effective strategies for seamlessly integrating studio methodologies into the classroom, focusing on innovative approaches to assessment.
To bring these concepts to life, teachers dove into the design process firsthand through the “Throne for Two” charrette. This thrilling sprint-style challenge had them brainstorming, developing designs, prototyping, and presenting their creations—all while stepping into the shoes of their students.
We can’t wait to see how our collaboration will build upon their vibrant culture of innovation, sparking even more creativity and engagement throughout the school community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and infused the workshop with their creative enthusiasm; it was truly special to connect with educators from across Catalonia, Madrid, and the Canary Islands—your energy and ideas inspire us all!
