Our NuVuX Studio, Rocket Car Racers, just wrapped up at New Beginnings High School in Florida, and what a finale! Students designed and build competitive CO2 powered drag racers. Through this studio, students studied the physics that influence the speed of a car including aerodynamics, rolling resistance, and inertia. They researched inspiring car designs, sketched their own profiles, carved out wooden bodies, and did the finishing with sanding, paint, and decals. Students also mastered the technique of creating free body diagrams to understand the forces acting on their vehicles. On the final day, students raced their designs to determine the champion!
