Begun in fall 2020, the HTA-NuVuX program is one of the newest programs in our network and our first public charter school partner. HTA serves over 1,100 students across four island campuses and uses a hybrid virtual and in person learning model. We currently work with HTA Oahu.
The goal of the NuVuX program at HTA is to provide students and teachers across all four campuses with new ways of teaching and learning to better equip graduates for the future of work.
At HTA, our NuVuX Fellow, Nakeia Medcalf, co-teaches an immersive design studio for 24 students in grades 10-12 at the Oahu campus. With studio topics ranging from wearable technology to redesigning public space, each student receives three high school credits for the semester- long program. As the program becomes more established, NuVuX will engage more students and teachers across ages and disciplines to further integrate studio-based learning across HTA.
